A strategic marketer and Sustainable Marketing consultant. Co-Founder, Director and Podcast Host at Can Marketing Save the Planet Ltd, a company on a mission to support responsible marketing through educating and supporting the approximate 10.6M Marketers on the planet.
Certified Carbon Literate Trainer, together with Gemma, created the first Carbon Literacy for Marketers training programme. And as Course Director at CIM, she has developed a number of training programmes focused on sustainable marketing.
A 6x published author (4x in the digital marketing arena and 2x in Sustainable Marketing).
In 2022, awarded ‘Outstanding Contribution to Marketing’ for driving sustainable marketing transformation.
Michelle was also recognised as one of the UK’s Top 100 Inspirational Businesswomen in 2021. Prior to her focus on sustainability, Michelle worked providing strategic consulting and delivering communications and engagement projects aligned with digital transformation programmes.
Michelle has decades of experience working across the digital arena, consulting and supporting the growth. A former Director at Made Simple Group, she supported the business from inception to growth, to sale. In 2022, she founded digital agency Carvill Creative - and to date still leads a focused team helping organisations develop a strong digital presence via robust (and highly human) strategic marketing strategy.

Gemma Butler, Author, Co-Founder / Director, Can Marketing Save The Planet Ltd
Championing sustainable marketing and leadership, Gemma is the co-host of the podcast series, Can Marketing Save the Planet? She is a 2x published author, Carbon Literate and was awarded ‘Outstanding Contribution to Marketing’ in 2022 for driving sustainable marketing transformation.
Former Marketing Director at the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Gemma develops qualifications and training focused on educating marketers and business across the world on their role in driving a more sustainable future.
Gemma has experience in corporate and not for profit organisations. Having spent time at Sony where she worked between Tokyo developing product and the UK as the buyer in a commercial role working with a broad range of UK retailers.
Gemma's previous roles include Chief Community Officer at social media start up WeAre8, which aims to make social media a better kinder place and provide business with a sustainable ad distribution platform.
As Marketing Director for the Chartered Institute of Marketing, she represented and informed the profession, and continues to work with the organisation, driving the importance of professional development and championing the significant role marketing plays in driving a more sustainable future to those already in the profession and, those looking to come into it.
